Blog symposium @ EJIL Talk!

Thrilled by the success and good spirit of our ESIL pre-conference Workshop in Manchester on the UN Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees, the Coordinating Committee is launching a blog symposium on this theme.

The UN Global Compacts are at the end of a two-year negotiation process: the Marrakech Conference will formally adopt the Global Compact on Migration in December 2018, whereas the UN General Assembly will, also by the end of 2018, endorse the Global Compact on Refugees. Nonetheless, the legal academic debate on their scope, content, pitfalls and innovations is still in its infancy.

With a view to achieving a lively debate on the UN Global Compacts, the blog symposium will feature three or four contributions by different members of the Interest Group (IG), introduced by a post written by the IG conveners. They will be published on EJIL:Talk! (subject to the Editors’ approval and after a reviewing/editing process). Contributions should not exceed 1500 words and need to comply with the requirements set forth in the EJIL: Talk! authors’ guide.

Interested IG members are invited to carefully follow the instructions provided in the Call for Contribution attached below and to submit short abstracts (not exceeding 500 words) to migreflaw@gmail.com by 7 November 2018.
