The International Migration Institute has two vacancies: a Research Officer to work on a research project on ‘Mobile Welfare’. The Mobile Welfare project is funded by NORFACE and is coordinated by the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) in the Netherlands. Working in collaboration with the IMI team and other project partners, the post-holder will coordinate the ‘work package’ related to the way how perceptions of access to welfare arrangements in origin and destination countries shape migration aspirations and decisions. The successful candidate will prepare literature reviews and scoping studies, conduct qualitative data collection, the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and disseminate the project findings through academic publications (joint and single-authored) for peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and through working papers and websites and other electronic media.
And a Research Officer to work on a research project on Migrants in Countries in Crisis. This EU-funded project is being conducted in collaboration with the Vienna-based International Centre for Migration Policy Development. IMI will be responsible for managing up to four African case studies in this project (likely South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic and Libya but subject to confirmation).
The postholder will play a central role in all stages of the research including refining the conceptual framework and research design, conducting fieldwork, data analysis and writing up findings. S/he will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the MICIC project within IMI and in collaboration with ICMPD.
